Train

The training assistant

Use the chat to set goals before a session, reflect after it, and plan or change your training by asking.

Updated

Where to find itLink to this section

On the website, every Training page has the chat on the right. Click the chat icon to open it. In the app, tap the sparkle at the top of Training → Plans.

A session also has its own way in: Set goals in chat before it and Reflect in chat after it. In the app these read Set goals and Reflect.

Each turn uses tokens like any chat.

Set goals for a sessionLink to this section

Goals are for a planned session, before you train.

  1. Open the session and click Set goals in chat (in the app, Set goals).
  2. Talk it through. GGAB helps you land on two or three concrete goals across technique, game strategy, physical and mental.
  3. When you agree, they're saved on the session.

On the website they show under Goals for this session. In the app they show under Goals, and the button becomes Change goals.

If the check-in is on, GGAB also asks about goals when a session starts within the next three hours. See The check-in.

Reflect on a sessionLink to this section

Reflection opens once a session's start time has passed, whether or not you've marked it done.

  1. Open the session and click Reflect in chat (in the app, Reflect).
  2. GGAB asks what stood out, what hurt, and what to take from it. Answer in your own words.
  3. When you're done, it's saved on the session.

The saved version is the Reflection Summary, in three rows:

AreaWhat it holds
PhysicalYour energy, any soreness, and any pain with where and how bad.
GameplayWhat went well and what you struggled with.
MentalYour mood and focus.

Pain you mention shapes your next sessions. Moderate or severe pain makes GGAB suggest an easier next session. See Adaptive training.

If you have a coach, your goals and reflection stay private until you click Submit to coach on the session.

Plan and change training by askingLink to this section

The chat can do anything you can do on the Training pages. Some things to try:

Planning:

"I've got a tournament on the 18th. Build me a 3-week block leading into it, two gym sessions and one court session a week, and put it in my calendar."

"Book me in every Tuesday and Thursday evening until the end of the month."

Changing things:

"What have I got this week?"

"Push Thursday's session to Friday."

"I've only got an hour today."

"Move my Tuesday sessions to Wednesday."

"That Monday session was 90 minutes, not 60."

"Stop putting training on my calendar."

Building and logging:

"Make me a lower body workout with squats, RDLs and Copenhagen planks."

"Add 5×5 back squats at 100kg to Thursday."

"I did the squats but only got 3 on the last set."

What to expectLink to this section

  • It looks before it edits. Ask it to change something and it finds the session first, so you can say "Thursday" rather than hunting for it.
  • One-off sessions change straight away. Moving or editing a session you planned on its own just happens.
  • Plan sessions change by suggestion. A change to sessions from a plan or program, or across several sessions, comes back as a card. Nothing moves until you tap Apply. See Adaptive training.
  • Creating a plan doesn't schedule it. It builds the plan, then asks when you want to start. Nothing lands on your calendar until you say so.
  • Deleting a logged session destroys the record, so it checks with you first.
  • Suggested changes never touch sessions your coach set.
  • Everything it does, you can undo from the Training pages by hand.
